About plymouth poodles
Our story starts with our search for a poodle puppy. We are a family with an elementary age son living in Plymouth, Massachusetts. We were looking for a healthy, fun loving, gentle dog for our family. We also needed a dog that was hypoallergenic, or at least as hypoallergenic as dogs get. While we loved our past dogs, a Golden Retriever and a Shepherd-Lab mix rescue, their shedding was wreaking havoc with allergies.
We were interested in poodles as other family members had poodles. We liked the intelligence of the breed and their affinity for water (since we live near the beach and cranberry bogs). We also were drawn to their sensitive nature and reputation for bonding with family members.
However, we found it difficult to find a poodle puppy near us in Southeast Massachusetts. Breeders were few and far between. Some only were interested in breeding show dogs, not family pets. Some had very long waiting lists or did not let families visit the pups but sent them by plane. It took traveling eight hours away to succeed in bringing a poodle puppy into our lives.
Callie, a joyful AKC standard poodle, joined our family in 2015 and is the loving, happy, amazingly smart dog we dreamed of.
We have talked to many other families who have had similar challenges. After a lot of research and talking with our vet and other breeders, we decided to breed our AKC poodle so others in our area might welcome a wonderful poodle into their life.

ABOUT CALLIE
Callie is a calm, relaxed dog who loves to play fetch and is an amazingly athletic runner and jumper. She is a very loving family dog. She cuddles on the couch, sleeps with our 10 year old son, and likes to give "hugs" by standing on her back feet with her front paws around you. She warms to people easily while also patrolling our yard to protect us against squirrels and wandering wild turkeys. We have an electric fence around our one acre yard so she gets a lot of exercise which poodles need.
Callie is an AKC standard poodle. She is a "blue" which means her coat color changes over time. As a puppy she was dark black but has since turned a silver grey with areas of red around her muzzle and chin. Callie was bred with a butterscotch colored AKC stud from Elite Poodles in Connecticut so all puppies will be AKC registered. She is four years old and is on the slender side for a standard poodle at 40 pounds but is tall at the shoulder.
Before deciding to breed Callie, we made sure to get her screened per AKC/OFA recommendations for the health issues that can arise with poodles including congenital cardiac defects, eye issues, and hip dysplasia.
